Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Queensmead Primary Academy.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Queensmead Primary Academy, part of the Greenwood Academies Trust. Thank you for showing an interest in our wonderful Academy community. We are a busy but friendly and welcoming place, with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of the life of the Academy, as well as providing regular updated information for parents, pupils and the wider community.

"Relationships between adults and pupils are caring and respectful. Pupils are confident and behave well." Ofsted -  July 2018

Queensmead Primary Academy opened its doors in November 2012 as the first primary academy in Leicester City sponsored by the Greenwood Academies Trust (formerly known as the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust) formed in 2009. Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT) currently has 37 open academies educating over 18,000 pupils across seven local authority areas including Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire, Leicester City, West Northamptonshire, North Northamptonshire, Peterborough, and Lincolnshire.

Working within our Trust means that we can support each other by sharing good practice as well as developing effective collaboration both within our region and across the Trust. As part of Leicester City Local Authority, we are also proud to link with our neighbouring schools as well as those further afield in the city.

"Pupils are proud of their school." Ofsted - July 2018

The Academy serves a long-standing local community in the Braunstone area of Leicester. We continually seek ways to involve parents and the local community in the daily life of our Academy and in children's learning. Our friendly, dedicated staff are committed to ensuring that our pupils are provided with the best possible start to their educational journey. Over the last few years, our incredible pupils have achieved results that exceed the national expectations - we are so very proud of them and the amazing progress they make.

"Academy leaders are ambitious for the school. Their decisive actions have led to significant improvements in the quality of teaching and learning" Ofsted - July 2018

Our spacious building and extensive grounds offer some of the best facilities children and parents could wish for; we strive to continually improve and update these spaces to meet the changing needs of our learners. We have designated spaces to support our broad, wide-ranging curriculum and co-curriculum offer. These include: Forest School spaces, drama and performance studio, a soundproof music room as well as a library which rightly places reading at the heart of our Academy.

As a UNICEF Rights Respecting School, our co-curriculum is designed to promote and encourage high aspirations for our pupils. Pupils here benefit from a myriad of experiences and opportunities designed to support them as local, national and global citizens with a life-long love of learning. Recognition for these opportunities is captured in the Qualities of Queensmead website pages and reflected in the numerous and diverse range of awards and accreditations we have achieved.

''Pupils are provided with opportunities and experiences which encourage them to think about such issues as online safety, wider world issues affecting the environment and future career prospects" Ofsted - July 2018

We continually strive for high attainment and progress for all our pupils alongside their personal development, creating memorable moments which will support them into their bright futures.

"The school's curriculum is well-designed to inspire pupils to learn and to broaden their knowledge and skills" Ofsted - July 2018
